Blues For Robbie |

When my friends at Hal Leonard agreed it was time for a new collection, I was thrilled to be able to select and focus on material that was written and released after my 1980’s-1990’s Narada label recordings. The music created during those Narada years is some of my most recognizable, however with the changes in the music industry, and the general busyness of our modern lives, it has been a bit more challenging for pianists to stay on top of all the more current music I’ve recorded and published. This collection will serve to update and spotlight work, made available by Hal Leonard, from recordings on both the Moon Boy and Decca Records labels. Of note, Blues For Robbie, an improvisation on a piece by my longtime friend, artist and guitarist Martin Springett, is an ode to one of Martin’s and my early mentors, the late great pianist, organist, and arranger, Robbie King, and appears here in a songbook for the very first time. Several other pieces have special family ties being inspired by my mother, (A Song for Helen), my daughter, (Tara), and my wife Alicia, (Tears for Alice). I have also selected other favorites from A Cup of Moonlight, East of the Moon, Finding Paradise, The Good Life, Living Temples, and Liverpool...Re-Imagining the Beatles, all composed, recorded, and arranged from 2000-2011. I am forever grateful to the many pianists and music teachers that find enjoyment and value in my work. I am also extremely grateful to the muse who sits upon my shoulder making sure I continue to bring forth more music for this divinely inspired king of all instruments...the piano!
